Joint replacement surgery including the option for cutting edge Mako robotic assisted surgery is carried out at the new site and at Spire St Anthony’s Hospital The post holder will work closely with one other outpatient pre assessment Sister to ensure all sites are managed effectively. Overall Purpose. To Actively lead the Pre assessment Service / outpatient clinics /services and cover Treatment Room Sister/ Lead in their absence. To work in collaboration with Consultants, Anaesthetists, Intensivists and CNS to ensure patients are optimized prior to admission and post operatively. To lead and manage a clinical team and pre assessment services, developing effective systems to ensure delivery of innovative evidence-based care. Provide support to the senior management team and visible clinical leadership at departmental level. To support and facilitate high quality, individualised patient care for all patients. To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to review current practice and implement changes to improve the patient experience. Take responsibility for monitoring expenditure against agreed budgets contributing to effective financial management. This includes identification of any actual or potential deviation from budgets. Principal Accountabilities Proactively and positively contribute to the successful overall performance of the pre assessment and outpatient clinic. Co-ordinate clinical activity within the outpatient departments at all sites. Investigate and take appropriate actions relating to untoward incidents, accidents and complaints in accordance with Fortius policy and procedures, reporting these to the relevant consultants and/or Head of Outpatient services. Develop and implement clinical governance within the clinic by the utilisation of risk management, education, training and continuing professional development as well as clinical supervision audit and effective practice development. Manage and maintain the staff roster ensuring adequate and appropriate staff levels. Monitor and control staff sickness, ensuring that a robust system is in place that enables the recording and evaluation of staff sickness, causal factors and trends. Promote staff wellbeing and reduce sickness. Lead appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives. Act as clinical leader and role model, sharing expertise with colleagues within the clinic. Participate in team, professional and personal development activities and promote commitment to continuous development and improvement. Manage the performance of the department against agreed key performance indicators: e.g., staff working hour utilisation, clinical indicators, staff and patient satisfaction data. Ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to Fortius policies and procedures, including health and safety policies. Lead operational and recruitment, induction training programs. Provide advice, guidance, information and effective decision making within the clinic. To work with nursing staff and theatre manager at the FSC to ensure a seamless patient journey from inpatient to outpatient. Ensure that patient documentation is completed correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner by all members of the nursing team. Initiates emergency treatment plans for unanticipated situations both clinical and operational. Knowledge And Experience Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience Essential Desirable Registered Nurse (NMC). Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an outpatient department or ward as senior staff nurse or above. Post registration qualification relevant to practice e.g., orthopedics, pre op assessment, teaching, and assessment. Clinical expertise and competence in pre op assessment. Teaching/Mentorship qualification. Sound knowledge of CQC standards and responsibilities. Good understanding of Policy together with the ability to propose changes to practice post audit or complaints. Experience of delivering an efficient effective service within budgetary constraints.
