The role of a Healthcare Assistant is very important in our department to ensure the department maintains high standards of care and cleanliness. This post is a hybrid role as it involves working clinically under the supervision of qualified nurses and covering housekeeping duties for the Medical Retina Service. The post holder will be expected to do 40 percent of their hours as clinical and 60 percent to cover housekeeping duties. You must be a motivated person, able to use your initiative with excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work with patients and their families. You must comfortable working within a team and on one’s own. Possess a pleasant manner, be motivated and have the ability to use one's own initiative. You will be a very valued member of the medical retina team. The role of an HCA is of very important in our department to ensure the department maintains high standards care and cleanliness in order provide a comfortable environment for staff, patients and their family. The HCA Will Be Responsible For Undertake visual acuity checks and Instillation of eye drops. Undertake intraocular pressure checks and other vital observations. Undertake OCT imaging and Urinalysis. Ensure the Quality boards are updated monthly. Maintain cleanliness in the department. Ordering and monitoring clinic stock levels Provision of leaflets in all Medical Retina clinical areas and patients waiting areas. Ensure the sluice room is kept tidy all the time.
