Both part-time and full-time availability can be accepted (minimum of 2 days per week). As a Support Worker with GSL Education, you should have: At least 6 months hands-on experience supporting children, young people or adults with complex and additional needs. A sound understanding of how different additional needs can trigger and cause different behaviours. The ability to manage behaviour effectively, through the use of de-escalation techniques. Training in MAPPA, NAPPI or Team Teach is desirable but not essential. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful and busy situations. The ability to understand people’s reactions and adapt accordingly. As a Support Worker, your duties will include but not be limited to: Working 1:1, 1:2 and with small groups of pupils in a classroom and other educational settings. Working with class teachers and other staff members, to engage students in learning activities. Following Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure all student’s needs are met. Assisting and supporting with the development and learning of students across the school. Taking part in school training days and courses to stay up to date with safeguarding, child protection and behaviour management training.
