Do you want to be part of a team working in brand new, purpose-built theatres providing planned surgery for patients across Hertfordshire and west Essex? We are looking NOW for talented staff to form the core team that will be the beating heart of the Hertfordshire and West Essex Surgical Centre being built at St Albans City Hospital and set to open in Spring 2025. More than 4,000 patients will be seen at the hub each year for non-complex orthopaedic, hip and knee surgery as well as ear, nose and throat procedures and spinal injections. Being separated from emergency services will reduce the risk of short-notice cancellations. This is a fabulous opportunity to play a key role in a flagship collaborative project between the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board. The Surgical Centre will focus on Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) standards and will be a highly efficient facility, achieving 85% theatre utilisation and operating sessions over an extended 10-hour day, four days a week, with shorter, 8-hour operating session taking place on Friday and Saturdays. Interviews will be taking place on 23rd October. You will be responsible for leading a highly skilled and efficient operational team within the business unit. You will work closely with a broad range of staff from all 3 acute trusts to ensure that all patients identified as suitable forthe surgical centre are scheduled for surgery in a timely manner. You will implement andmonitor national guidelines and GIRFT recommendations to achieve the best outcomes ensuring correct list allocation, case mix and equipment availability, monitor cancellations and equitable share of fallow lists. You willbe required to produce reports and co-lead Theatre Efficiency Meeting with the Theatre Manager to ensure performance targets are met and any barriers to deliver are unlocked. The post holder will form part of the management team that will provide senior cover six days aweek. There will be no Trust on call commitments within this role. "}
