To have up to date knowledge of NHSLA and Cared Quality Commission requirements relating to the management and maintenance of medical devices. To recognise and understand common user induced faults on medical devices and rectify or advise the user accordingly. To ensure the devices received onto the department are compliant to current legislation and Trust policies relating to the cleaning and decontamination of medical devices. To act as the requisition raiser for goods and services relating the purchase and maintenance of medical devices. To collate and analyse invoice data relating to the purchase of medical devices and spare parts. To act as the focal point for all Receipt & Delivery aspects relating to the purchase of medical devices and spare parts. Data storage of departmental records and activities. Minute taking and creation. To process invoices and credit notes including ensuring that the correct pricing and finance coding/instructions are in place. First line technical support to users via various communication methods including phone, email and virtual platforms making appropriate use of the Trusts technology available. To actively participate in department team meetings. To actively participate in annual performance review with line manager. Communication 1. To display a high personal standard in respect of selfdiscipline and attitude to work, in view of both the complex nature of equipment on which he or she may be working and the requirement to liaise with other healthcare professionals, patients, carers, clients and external organisations. 2.To liaise with equipment manufacturers, external organisations and patients/carers regarding equipment to be returned for service and/or repair, and to organise documentation and courier where necessary. 3.To promote effective communication with stakeholders including professional staff, patients and carers. 4. To provide support and advice relating to the use and maintenance of medical devices and the services offered by Medical Engineering. Personal and People Development 1. To attend relevant training courses and to update ones own knowledge of specialist equipment and to update ones knowledge in respect of the specialised paediatric clinical use of such equipment. 2. To disseminate information relating to medical devices to the relevant healthcare specialists as required. 3. To train and supervise less experienced staff. 4. To possess NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a customer service related discipline. 5. To train users in the use of the information systems used by Medical Engineering and the Equipment Library. Health and Safety 1. There is a regular requirement to handle equipment that is subject to contamination by hazardous substances and bodily fluids. To also work in the vicinity of equipment whilst it is exposed to mains and high voltage electrical supplies. 2. To exercise due care and diligence whilst handling such equipment as stated above and other potentially harmful equipment used in patient treatment, such as lasers, defibrillators, diathermies and radio frequency therapy equipment. 3.To assist with the administration of relevant safety action bulletins, hazard notices, engineering updates and modifications with the appropriate course of action and to liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure their timely execution. 4.To be involved in the investigation of adverse incidents relating to medical equipment as necessary and produce the necessary reports. Service Improvement 1. To contribute to improvements in departmental procedures including software changes to the departmental information technology systems for which a full working knowledge is required. 2. This will involve identifying the need for additional resources and formulating plans to accommodate increased seasonal pressures. Quality 1.To prioritise and negotiate with other healthcare professionals in obtaining access to medical equipment in order to perform routine maintenance and/or repairs at mutually convenient times. 2. To be aware of the cost implications involved in the servicing and repair of medical equipment. 3. To deputise for the Technical Administration Team Leader as and when required. 4. As a member of a multi-disciplined team you will be required to perform administrative activities within the Medical Engineering Department and the Equipment Library. Key duties will include providing first line technical support mechanisms including logging and tracking equipment maintenance, Equipment Library request and issues, raising requisitions, placing and receiving orders, technical component stock control whilst also providing administrative support and clerical to the department. 1. To provide clerical and administrative functions to Medical Engineering and the Equipment Library. 2. To administer service level agreement documents for the provision of maintenance services to third parties. 3. To work to and prioritise daily work schedules, and to work unsupervised to professional standards in compliance with Department of Health guidelines and relevant standards set by statutory regulatory bodies, the relevant equipment manufacturer and departmental procedures. 4. Contract/Agreement and invoice negotiations with other parties such as Primary Care Trusts, Suppliers and other NHS organisations. This will require communication and negotiation with staff at commissioning level from these organisations. 5.
