The Emergency Department is located in a purpose built facility at The James Cook University Hospital and is a Regional Major Trauma Centre. A helipad is situated directly outside and radiology facilities and the Acute Assessment Unit are adjacent. The emergency department also has a number of inpatient beds on the trauma ward. The department sees around 65,000 new attendances per year and receives regional major trauma cases both by land and air. It covers all other facets of emergency medicine in all age groups. CLINICAL Resuscitation and initial management of emergency cases in a team. Management of other patients presenting to the Emergency Department, conducting minor operations & procedures when indicated. Supervision of the discharge of patients home. Management of patients returning to the department for review Development of your own area of specialist interest South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, as well as a number of community services across South Tees and North Yorkshire.
