Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment process Job Overview We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join the Pharmacy team at the Grange University Hospital (GUH) as a Pharmacy Assistant. The post holder will primarily work in the Distribution section of the department, ensuring that medications are sent in a timely and organised manner to wards and departments throughout GUH. Applicants will be expected to be able to have good awareness of stock control and have a high level of computer literacy. To be eligible you must be enthusiastic and self-motivated and should have a good standard of general education. We are a forward thinking and innovative department. Pharmacy enjoys excellent multidisciplinary links within the Health Board and we deliver clinical services to a wide range of specialities and are committed to the professional development of our strong team. The Health Board has automated pharmacy systems and a comprehensive medicines management service including electronic discharge. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be vital in assisting in the control of pharmaceutical stock by: Supporting the Logistics Service, reviewing and creating orders to Pharmaceutical Suppliers and resolving supply issues. Receipting orders from procurement and pharmaceutical suppliers. Checking all pharmaceutical orders against appropriate paperwork. Ensuring delivery notes are passed to the clerical office for matching with a purchase order. Putting all received stock into the correct bin location and ensuring stock rotation to ensure stock is used in a timely manner, reducing waste. Quarantining of all stock and consumables to be tested by Quality Control. Carrying out stock checks of starting materials and consumables to agreed stock levels, including checking of expiry dates The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
