The clinics house pituitary, growth hormone clinics, thyroid patient care, osteoporosis care and all manner of diabetic care such as foot care, sexual health and infectious diseases, retinal screening and a young persons clinics. This position requires a person with strong organizational skills, flexibility and good interpersonal skills. It is expected you will support and train other team members. You will be supported to do this. You will be responsible for key areas and act as a link nurse for the unit in areas such as infection control, tissue viability and diabetes. You will participate in the units’ rolling education programme for staff and patients alike. You will demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of issues or problems that patient present with. You must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and to act as a role model for more junior staff within the team. The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision is a must. A minimum of 18 months post registration is required at ward level or a day facility. Cannulation and phlebotomy skills are highly desirable. Ongoing evidence of professional development must be demonstrated. It is expected you will have an interest of the endocrine specialty. Further nursing career development is actively encouraged.
