We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. Following retirement of the post holder and an internal review of the service requirements, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the Non-medical prescribing work within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Responsible for the governance, professional advice and strategic development of non-medical prescribing within the Board, the post holder will be working with multi-disciplinary professions across all sectors and settings to support our growing population of non-medical prescribers The postholder will also be responsible for strategic development of NMP, with the accompanying professional guidance and policies, as well as the NMP strategy for NHSGGC With over 150 successful applications on to prescribing modules each year, the post holder is a key person to provide support, advice and to liaise with higher education institutes and to provide professional support to over 3000 NMP practitioners within the Health Board The post holder is also responsible for the management of non-medical prescribing governance post-qualification and also supports the ADTC in management of patient group directions The post holder will also be responsible provide oversight and professional input into non-medicines formulary work With evolving work relating to advance practice within nursing, and across other health care disciplines, this post holder will be critical for ensuring and contributing to the leadership and strategic work to support this implementation. Governance relating to systems and processes for non-medical prescribing will also be a critical aspect of this role. Based within Pharmacy Services corporate base at Clarkston Court, the NMP team sits within Prescribing Services, therefore creating a supportive team and supports working across both nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals and pharmacy prescribers. This post is ideal for a nurse prescriber to develop this role and lead on NMAHP prescribing and strategic direction to support transforming role within nursing.
