The Cove is a 14 bedded inpatient unit catering for young people aged between 13 18 years old who are experiencing a variety of complex moderate to severe mental health difficulties and require specialist inpatient support. The Assistant Psychologist post is an established post aimed at supporting and enhancing the work of the Clinical Psychology and Therapy Team alongside that of the wider Team. The post is professionally attached to a member of the psychology and therapy team including one Family Therapist and two Clinical Psychologists - at The Cove who will provide on-going support and supervision. This is a fantastic opportunity for a developing psychologist to work alongside experienced staff, develop and deliver a range of psychology skills and gain experience in a unique, ever developing inpatient service. We are seeking someone with a particular interest in working with young people and this post would suit someone who is interested in pursuing a career in clinical psychology in the future. The successful applicant will be based at The Cove, Heysham, which has easy access to the M6 via the Bay Gateway. To assist in the development, design and implementation of programme and project work. To assist in the administration, collation, input, interpretation and reporting of outcome related measures used routinely by inpatient services. Under supervision of the Band 8a Clinical Psychologist, assist in the professional and psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors of care by providing basic aspects of psychological assessment and psychological interventions. All clinical work and actions to take place under the management and supervision of the Band 8a Clinical Psychologist according to an agreed plan and associated goals within parameters set out by the Division of Clinical Psychology and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust departmental policies and procedures in connection with Assistant Psychologists. Formal supervision with the Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to take place on a monthly basis to facilitate work with additional frequent opportunities for informal contact for guidance and advice. Clinical activity involves sitting, often in a constrained position for long periods of time. Related activities will require the use of a VDU screen for approximately 50% of working hours. Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
