The Radiology department in Newham University Hospital is a busy, modern and well equipped department with multiple fully digital general X-ray rooms (DR), a Fluoroscopy screening room, multiple general ultrasound rooms, two state-of-the-art CT scanners (equipped with all the needed post-processing software: CT colon, CT coronary, CT PA, CT angio, etc), a new state-of-the-art wide-bore 1.5 T MRI scanner (Second 3T MRI currently under installation), state of the art digital mammography unit equipped with vacuum biopsy module, and multiple maternity ultrasound units. We are also managing some extra-mobile units and satellite x-ray hub at SGC and Shrewsbury road. We are a completely paperless department with a cross-trust hospital information system (HIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), radiology information system (RIS) and voice recognition (VR) system for reporting. The role Applications are invited for the post of a Specialty Doctor in Radiology at Newham University Hospital (part of Barts Health NHS Trust). The post will be for a period of 12 months. It could be converted to permanent if the post holder is suitable. The post holder will be expected to independently scan and report on ultrasound, CT and plain X-ray examinations both in the emergency setting and for ambulatory care (O.P). Specialty doctors will also be actively encouraged to report on different MRI scans and pursue a subspecialty interest in Radiology. The successful post holder(s) would form part of our 7 specialty doctors’ rota and would be operating independently at near consultant level providing both emergency and ambulatory care. This is a fixed term full-time recruitment for a year (40 hours per week) to cover vacancies and provide cover for our Specialty Doctors team. This could include some weekends, in whole or in part.
