The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. Main duties of the job The post involves seeing secondary care mental health patients for assessment and treatment face to face and online. You will receive supervision in groups and individually from experienced clinicians in the service. It involves liaising with psychological therapy and community mental hub colleagues from the MDT, as well as third sector partners in the Borough. You should be interested in offering focussed psychodynamic work to complex patients, contributing to our psychoeducational step 2 programme in the Hubs, as well as seeing a few longer term cases. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities The post involves seeing secondary care mental health patients for assessment and treatment face to face and online. You will receive supervision from experienced clinicians in the service. It involves liaising with psychological therapy and community mental hub colleagues from the MDT, as well as third sector partners in the Borough. We meet weekly for clinical meetings. You will attend MDT referral meetings and contribute across the board to our work. Person specification Education/ Qualifications Essential criteria A Degree Eligibility to apply for a postgraduate qualification in psychodynamic or psychoanalytic psychotherapy Desirable criteria Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis. Experience Essential criteria Working in a healthcare setting Experience of working with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities as an honorary psychotherapist or psychologist Experience of using psychological assessments, formulations, risk assessments and care planning Experience of working with people who have to potential to become aggressive and being able to respond appropriately Experience of MDT working and the voluntary sector Desirable criteria Experience of working with secondary care mental health service. Experience of working with people who are suicidal Skills/ Abilities Essential criteria High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive. An understanding of complex needs of a person with a diagnosis of Personality Disorders/mental illness/learning disability An understanding of psychological therapy applied to healthcare Has training and experience of audit, evaluation and research Advanced keyboard skills.
