Do you want to support young people to achieve their full potential? Brooklands Hospital is a specialist service, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to people with a learning disability. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated individuals to work within our CAMHS Learning Disability service to support young people within their recoveries and to continue to achieve their goals in life. The successful candidate will support the nurse in charge of the ward in delivering patient centred care and ensuring the safety of all young people. As a Healthcare Assistant you would be following direction from the Nurse in Charge to ensure care is delivered in line with the Mental Health Act and taking into account individual needs. You will support in the de-escalation of challenging situations and learning communication techniques to support each young person. You will be required to work shifts over a 24 hour period including long days, nights and bank holidays. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of mental health and/or learning disabilities, preferably possess a NVQ in Care and completed the care certificate. About us As a healthcare assistant on Jade Unit you will be based on the ward supporting the day to day activities and observing the young people. You will support the nurse in charge with ensuring the safety of all and will feedback your observations to the nurse in charge. You will support young people with their activities of daily living as required and support with leave off the unit. You will have Safety Intervention training to ensure you can safely support a young person in distress if required. You will need to support in the verbal de-escalation of young people with communication difficulties and adapt your communication style accordingly. "}
