To undertake training for new practices, procedures and equipment. To undertake on-call duties if required as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergencies occurring outside normal hours are attended to. Responsible for testing, maintenance and fault finding on all engineering plant, equipment and services including but not limited to: Steam distribution and condensate recovery Steam to water low pressure heating and hot water Natural gas fired heating, hot water and catering plant Water storage, pumping and pressure boosting Ventilation and air conditioning Vacuum and compressed air plants Automated water treatment plant Firefighting installations Computerised building management controls Decontamination washers Laundry equipment Patient handling equipment such as beds, hoists, wheelchairs, etc. Hydrotherapy pool To undertake all work activities as requested by the Mechanical Team Leader, Supervisor or Estates Officer. To work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times. To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment. To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes. To actively participate in the operation of facilities labour control scheme, by completion of all paperwork and reports as required by the scheme. Carry out all work on equipment as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations and the Trust's Safety Policy. To carry out engineering surveys and compile data, as and when instructed by line managers. To work overtime to carry out repairs/maintenance not possible during normal hours. At all times when on duty, to carry Trust communication devices such as mobile telephones, two-way radios or pagers to facilitate immediate response to emergencies. Where required to, holds a current certificate of training and is competent in the operation and use of a counterbalance forklift truck for compliance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.
