Following additional investment, we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our Medicine for Older People based at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will provide a clinical and leadership role in the assessment, treatment and management of older people in addition to contributing to the overall proactive and preventative agenda. The successful candidate will work within our forward thinking and expert multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care and will be expected to constantly seek to improve and develop the service. The appointee will be expected to bring innovation and vision, to further develop a service fit for the future needs of our local population whilst ensuring that current service provision continues to be high-value and delivered to the highest standard. Frequent review of the service is anticipated to ensure that Trust and departmental strategic priorities are being met. As a consultant, the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education. The development of relevant research interests will be encouraged, and opportunities will be enhanced alongside areas of specialist interest. We pride ourselves in our forward thinking and standards of care. The on-call rota is 1:10 weekends for ECPOD (Sat-Sun). A lieu day is given after a weekend on call. There are 2 other medical consultants on site as part of the medical take. On Sunday Night 8pm -8am , ECPOD provides cover and advice to the medical take from home The department is keen to accommodate special interests; we are happy to discuss and consider appropriate changes in the weekly job plan. The post-holder will be required to comply with Trust and GMC standards for appraisal and revalidation, including continuing professional development. The Department of Medical Education funds external study leave up to £800/year. There are numerous internal opportunities to gain CPD. You will work in the community units as well as the acute site (Stoke Mandeville Hospital). . As well as fulfilling their clinical responsibilities, the post holder will be expected to play a part in the department's audit and teaching activities, providing beside and formal teaching to medical students, junior doctors and other health professionals, and supervision of junior staff, as well as other members of the department's clinical team, and community clinicians. The Trust has an optional mentoring system for new consultants and there is a New Consultants group led by Dr Tina O'Hara. "}
