As part of the team, you will assess, plan, evaluate and implement care for a group of babies in the high dependency, special or transitional care. You will also be responsible for maintaining standards on the unit alongside with your senior nursing colleagues in the team and supporting neonatal support workers and student nurses. Part of your role will include taking charge of the ward regularly which will provide you the opportunity to develop your operational management skills. The post holder is required to participate in all ward activities as an effective team member supporting senior sister and taking responsibilities for coordinating a team of staff within a shift. The post holder is required to take responsibility as the prime care provider for a determined group of patients. She /he will work without direct supervision in the assessment group of all relevant care needs, development, implementation of programmed of care. The post holder is required to supervise and teach junior staff and pre and post registration student whilst maintaining a safe working environment. The post holder is required to develop and maintain a high quality of nursing care based on the Trust's mission statement, core objectives and Nursing, Midwifery & Healthcare Assistant Strategy. The post holder is required to work within the codes of practice, professional guidelines and policies.
