We are offering an exciting opportunity for you to be the Neurology and Neurosurgery Matron within the medicine clinical care group. We require self-motivated individual with a background in the relevant area who has a substantial background in leadership at an 8A level or equivalent. You will be responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of the team, management of both inpatient and outpatients, service provision and bed management within your speciality. You will be supported in the role by a head of nursing and the divisional director of nursing to assist you in your personal growth and development alongside department/service improvement plans. You should have some experience in governance, rota management and budget management. Some duties include: a real commitment to the principles of devolution of decision making to clinical teams, working closely with the clinical lead and the service manager, to provide visible, accessible leadership to all given area of responsibility and to ensure that the professional aspects of nursing are adhered to and provide senior nursing support to the specialty as required. The Matron role is a senior nursing/midwifery role providing leadership and direction to nursing/midwifery staff within a designated service line across Queen's and King George Hospitals, and other satellite sites. The post holder will work in a service line triumvirate with the Clinical Lead and the Service Manager, with a particular focus on day-to-day management of nursing/midwifery services across their areas of responsibility. They will be responsible for ensuring provision of high quality, safe, well-governed, productive and cost effective services which support the Trust in delivering its strategic objectives. They will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and decision-making.
