Applicants must be keen to expand their skills and willing to undertake paediatric phlebotomy. Applicants will be given full training and mentoring. Experience of working with children or in an Outpatient setting is desirable. We work as a large multi-disciplinary team to deliver outstanding care to our patients in Outpatients therefore experience of working collaboratively in a team within a healthcare environment is essential for this post. For many of our patients, Outpatients is the first impression of our hospital and therefore excellent communication skills are required for this position to ensure patients and their families / carer's are welcomed and reassured. The Healthcare Assistant is an integral member of the clinical team. They will assist and support nursing, medical, and otherprofessional staff in the delivery of high standards of holistic family centred care to children and families. Clinical tasks undertaken by the post holder will be ratified by the business unit. The HCA and ward manager are jointly responsiblefor ensuring competency. Clinical tasks undertaken will therefore be specific to the speciality, clinical area or patient group. About us The post holder will provide the highest standards of nursing care to children and their families. Undertake phlebotomy procedures in the department, once fully trained and competent. The post holder will be an effective communicator in all aspects of their duties both in direct and indirect patient care. The post holder will work in collaboration with the healthcare team. The post holder will work within the confines of their mandatory and statutory obligations, to the prevention and control of infectionin the clinical area The post holder will undertake delegated nursing tasks as deemed necessary to enhance the care of the patient, some of whichmay be competency based. The post holder will assess and report risk to the nurse/lead clinician. The post holder will assist in the orientation and educationof new staff. Take responsibility for, prioritise and manage own workload to support clinical team. Work without direct supervision using experience and knowledge to ensure the highest quality care is delivered Promote and maintain a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Assist in the basic care required by patients in clinical settings. Assist with the education of new staff and students and ensure they are instructed in the procedures, routines. Create and maintain relationships with patients, parent/carers, offering advice and support where necessary. Accompanypatients to other areas of the hospital for specialised treatment.
