The post holder will be required to understand ward systems, taking into account the needs of patients who require admission, transfer and discharge, and be expected to communicate with a wide range of professionals, consultants, doctors, nursing staff and patients/relatives and carers, organising own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a ward clerk supporting the Care of the Elderly Ward 7 Team. The successful candidate will need to be forward thinking and be able to provide a full range of clerical duties to support the smooth running of the ward. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will have previous office experience, ideally in a similar role and be able to priorities work to meet tight deadlines. A good general education is required. Knowledge of health IT systems to include PCS would be desirable although full training will be given. About us 1. Be able to use the required electronic systems receiving patients for attendance or admission, booking them into the system to record arrival, discharge and any follow-up appointments, promptly updating information as required, to ensure accurate recording and retrieval of information, Co-ordinate a support service for patients to include arranging ambulance transport, porters, patient meals, linen and maintenance requests as required, including dealing with donations and patient belongings adhering to Trust policies. 2. Update case notes when patients have been seen, according to the agreed quality standard, locate and retrieve supplementary documentation for case notes as required, filing diagnostic reports and essential documents in the appropriate place, 3. Provide a comprehensive clerical service to the ward team, undertaking all work-related correspondence, photocopying, faxing and emailing, distributing reports and letters according to the requirements of the service, 4.
