The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service and will be based within the YJS. This post will be focused on early intervention and ensuring that groups of vulnerable children and young people have access to mental health advice and support. The post holder is responsible for providing mental health assessments and brief psychotherapeutic interventions and assisting in navigating local mental health systems for children and young people who are involved with the YJS. The role will also involve providing advice, training and consultation to other members of YJS, parent (s) / carer (s) and other agencies. The post will provide a close link between CAMHS and YJS. To ensure high quality mental health assessment of children and young people referred to YJS where indicated. To identify the need for assessment through liaison with the Police, Courts, Probation, YJS, CAMHS and other appropriate agencies for young offenders who may also be experiencing mental health issues. To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). To provide consultation to the YJS Practitioners To provide clinical and managerial supervision to the wider CAMHS team Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.
