The neurosciences therapy team at Alder Hey is made up of subspecialities including neuromuscle, acute neurology and neurosurgery, oncology and tone management. The successful candidate to this post will work mainly within the Oncology team, but will have the opportunity to work with and support the wider neurosciences service. We are a large integrated therapy team with experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists, rotational therapists and therapy assistants working across acute and outpatient services. We offer regular in-service training and peer supervision, We welcome applications from experienced physiotherapists with a keen interest in the clinical speciality. To work with the existing Neuromuscular therapy team to assess, treat and plan the ongoing management of outpatients and inpatient of the North West Regional Neuromuscular Service integrating with the whole multidisciplinary team. To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a large caseload of complex oncologypatients as required by the service. To work across the neurosciences teams as needed to support the wider team objectives to provide high quality physiotherapy services to children under the neurosciences service. To work with the neuromuscular research team, as a clinical evaluator in large multicentre commercial studies as well as participation in academic studies and national audit. To help develop the service, undertaking appropriate audits and service reviews and to be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, students and therapy support staff. To provide a range of specialist individualised therapeutic interventions, supporting children through provision of highly specialist advanced clinical reasoning, to provide formulate and deliver individual treatment plans. About us To work with the existing oncology and neurosciences therapy team to assess, treat and plan the ongoing management of outpatients and inpatients,integrating with the whole multidisciplinary team. To provide highly specialist and professional advice, education and liaison in conjunction with the clinical specialist to parents, carers, colleagues and all members of the multidisciplinary team. To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a large and complex caseload of oncology and neurosciences patients. To lead a part of this service in conjunction with other Senior Therapists. To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a large caseload of complex neurosciences and oncology patients. To work across the neurosciences teams as needed to support the wider teamobjectives to provide high quality physiotherapy services to children under the neurosciences service. To work with the Oncology and Neurosciences teams on research projects,academic studies and national audit. To support the wider team with research projects as needed. To be directly involved in the clinical decision-making process as part of the neuromuscular therapy team, providing appropriate advice and education to families and colleagues to promote optimal therapy management. To help develop the service, undertaking appropriate audits and service reviews and to be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, students and therapy support staff. To organise this caseload effectively and efficiently regarding clinical priorities, time, and staffing levels. To provide highly specialist assessment and intervention in a range of settings; inpatients, outpatients, aquatic therapy pool and outreach clinics. Delivering holistic highly specialist assessment of the childs needs and providing treatment programmes to meet the childs care needs. The post holder may be required to provide input to other areas of the service as required. The post holder may be required to travel to appropriate regional, national and international training and networking events. To build on previous experience enabling further development of clinical and managerial competencies, with responsibility for management and leadership of rotational staff, assistants and students within the team. To supervise and support junior staff within these specialities and support across the Therapy service.
