The Therapies Education and Training passport is under construction for Physio and OT currently, you would work with the existing Clinical Practice Educators to complete this work and facilitate training for our Band 5 staff initially. This is a time limited project and there is up to 2 days (15 hours) of funding available until the end of March 2025 as a Fixed Term Contract or a secondment opportunity. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office, be innovative and adaptable with a desire to ensure robust and efficient training and development is delivered to clinical staff. This role requires the post holder to be able to plan and organise their time well and have previous experience of delivering training (face to face and on-line). For further information please contact Emma Ninan emma.ninan@elht.nhs.uk Working collaboratively with the Clinical Service Leads and Therapies Professional Development Leads responsible for development and delivery of a comprehensive training programme for all Band staff within the Therapies and IMPReS Directorates (for the designated professions). During the duration of this post there is a requirement to deliver training to 125 staff (minimum), evidence of delivery and recording will be required. Working collaboratively with clinical teams responsible for identifying the clinical training needs to support delivery of professional and clinical practice standards in line with agreed care pathways and clinical guidelines. Using innovative solutions pilot alternative solutions to the delivery of training which maximising workforce, system and technological resources. Working with the Therapies Professional Development Leads support the development of an overarching competency framework and associated clinical skills toolkit for Band 5 staff. To inform development of the annual Training Needs Analysis and locally delivered therapy training plans and coordinate a robust response to delivery of these training needs and evaluation of impact. Support delivery of the Band 5 Forum. About us MAIN DUTIES To be responsible for ensuring the development, delivery, coordination and evaluation of the education and training of Band 5 staff. To develop an innovative approach to clinical education working with education providers in developing/evolving programmes to meet the needs of the service and the changing professional educational landscape, maximising the use of technology wherever possible. To work with CSLs and Clinical Team Leads to establish and maintain a comprehensive programme of clinical training / teaching within the clinical teams and across sites, in accordance with evidence-based practice and professional bodies/ HCPC. Undertake and/or facilitate regular practical and theoretical training, evaluating and making the most efficient use of all education resources both within the trust and externally. To undertake a baseline assessment of learning needs utilising competency frameworks for Band 5 clinical staff in collaboration with clinical teams. To undertake evaluation of training delivered both internal and external and to inform continuous improvement of the programme offer. Deliver education and training packages on an individual or group basis. Plan own workload ensuring all roles are undertaken in the appropriate timescale. Ensure staff develop a patient-centred evidence- based approach that provides clinically effective and safe care to meet a wide range of needs for patients and their significant others. COMMUNICATION To communicate effectively with clinical staff, CTLs, CSLs / operational leads and HOS as required To liaise with CTLs and CSLs around matters relating to individual training needs and competencies. Be involved in local or national specialist interest groups to share best practice and be aware of current trends relating to the training and education of registered staff. Develop close working relationships with staff in the Directorate to enable review of clinical practice and identify impact and requirements for future training plans. Attend internal training and governance meetings when required. To use a wide range of communication skills across the clinical teams to both facilitate, coordinate and evaluate clinical education. To communicate with members of the senior leadership team in the securing of required resources and escalating risks and issues, providing written reports as required. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT To provide and develop a wide range of learning resources optimising the use of digital platforms and SharePoint. Design and develop assessment tools to assess learning outcomes, identifying key themes and evaluate benefits to inform annual review of the education offer. Working in partnership with the Therapies Professional Development Leads coach learners in relation to the professional and clinical demands of the role and build their resilience with respect to working in a modern healthcare context. Support clinical staff in identifying their clinical educational needs to ensure competency across a broad range of professional standards and clinical skills. To participate in the induction of staff ensuring completion of mandatory training and inducting them to the training available and approach to assessment of need. Encourage the appropriate sharing of knowledge and skills within the team and involve other staff in the delivery of training as required. Work with CSL to provide an overall assessment of clinical competence working closely with the clinical teams to identify areas for development in line with professional standards. Organisation of and participation in the training of clinical supervisors to support delivery of the internal training programme. To co-ordinate mentor training across clinical teams providing leadership and guidance. Actively participate in mentor training for qualified staff and organise regular mentor meetings. Keep minutes of the meetings and feedback any relevant information to clinical supervisors and clinical team leaders. Instigate appropriate clinical audit and research in relation to clinical education, supervising and providing support for research undertaken in department. Liaise with research and audit departments at the Trust and educational establishments. To assist in delivery of the continuous Professional Development activities for qualified staff within the department when required. ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the planning and development of education and training for Band 5 staff. Participate in service improvement initiatives when required. To report clinical and non-clinical incidents in line with Trust and departmental risk management policies. Be able to deal effectively with departmental incidents and complaints and provide input into risk management by identification and reporting potential risks as required. Ensure access to all mandatory training e.g., Moving and Handling, Resuscitation, Fire and others as defined by the Trust are provided for all staff. Ensure training for all clinical developments and new equipment Maintain and provide records of all training activities including local training, equipment specific training, safer handling training, Mandatory training etc. Participate in mandatory and other relevant trust training. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Uphold professional conduct at all times in accordance with Statements for Professional Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) documents. Working closely with the Therapies Professional Development Leads to ensure all training developed and delivered is in line with requirements around professional practice guidelines. Undertake appropriate, documented Continuing Professional Development in accordance with the requirements of the HCPC.
