This would be an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Finance leader. Working with partners within and outside the organisation, the successful candidate will have a key role in identifying and harnessing opportunities and innovations to help address the challenges of healthcare delivery in West Wales. The role will work collaboratively with service and clinical leaders in pursuit of service transformation and delivery of new and innovative projects to deliver optimal patient pathways, alongside financial sustainability plans. You will also have key responsibility for medium and long term plans, including leading on the review of business intelligence. The post-holder will be instrumental in providing leadership within the Finance function as part of the Directorate Management Team; Providing a robust and value-adding strategic financial advice and reporting function for the Health Board, its subcommittees, service leads and external regulators; Advise senior leaders across the health board of the financial impacts of service development and work in conjunction with cross departmental strategic teams to develop and implement health board strategy; Drive an increased understanding of cost and activity drivers and performance metrics, using performance indicators, costing techniques, business cases and investment appraisal guidance and other centrally led finance initiatives to meet corporate priorities; Management and direction of a team to help them deal with the competing demands, ensuring the capability provides clear, robust analysis, communication, and commentary on service activity; Lead on the development and application of a continuous opportunity framework, ensuring active promotion and engagement amongst service leads and Business Partners, in pursuing financial recovery and sustainability options. Provide excellent business insight and negotiation skills which will support the effective operation of processes relating to the negotiation and performance management of clinical and non-clinical agreements with other NHS organisations.
