To maintain and monitor standards of care to ensure patient safety and quality of care and to work with Matron to resolve failures of standards of care in all areas of the patient environment To be accountable for providing clinical and managerial leadership of a ward and leading by example to maintain visibility and accessibility to staff, patients and visitors, including undertaking direct clinical care of patient To be accountable for the line management of a team comprising registered practitioners, assistants and support workers and clerical staff (the number of direct reports and whole time equivalents are defined in the organisational chart on page 9). To deliver the delegated responsibilities of 'budget holder' for the area To take the staffing bleep as part of a rota. To take part in the Senior Nurse Rota.
