The team provide multidisciplinary rehabilitation for people who have a neurological diagnosis. In addition to Speech and Language therapists, the team consists of Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Rehabilitation support workers and Physiotherapists. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate significant experience and knowledge in assessment, treatment and management of people who have acquired communication and swallowing problems following neurological events. As part of the wider speech and language therapy staffing, you would be involved with VF clinics and we also provide a FEES service. We are committed to providing the best possible service to our patients and strongly believe in the continuing professional development of our staff, with regular appraisals and in service training provided. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and friendly environment. At a Highly Specialist level assess, develop and implement Speech and Language therapy for adult clients with communication and swallowing difficulties. To employ highly specialist interventions for patients /clients and carers who have severe disability and /or terminal illness on a daily basis, and evaluate outcomes. To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge according to the standards of the Department and distribute these accordingly. To provide advice and training to the others regarding the management and care of patients /clients with communication and or feeding and swallowing difficulties. To demonstrate good negotiation skills across a range of issues, including case management in complex cases.
