In collaboration with clinical teams and relevant Clinical Nurse Specialists, help to develop patient information literature. Interact with patients andrelatives and provide verbal and written information pre-operatively inconnection with Enhanced Recovery programmes as required, includingpromoting health education. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual that drives towards health promotion and improvement. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that all aspects of the Enhanced Recovery (ERAS) is optimised in the Intermediate Surgical Care Unit (ISCU) and surgical wards for all patients on the programme. This includes pre op clinics discussing ERAS with patients and prescribing the pre op medications, day of surgery checks and patient support post op ward rounds and supporting the medical staff with the outcomes, daily monitoring of the ERAS patients offering guidance, support and ensuring all outstanding requests are acted upon and reported. Discharge planning and ensuring discharge letters are correct and completed in a timely manor to prevent delays. This role continues post discharge giving the patients a link to the service for up to 10 days where they receive follow up phone calls. This is to ensure the patient is progressing and offered advice where necessary re analgesia, diet, wounds escalating when appropriate.
