We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the established OT team who work along side a dynamic and friendly multidisciplinary team providing health services to adults with a learning disability.We are looking for someone who is familiar with MDT working and has experience of working with people with learning disabilities. They must have the ability to learn and develop skills within this varied and interesting role. It is essential to be a good communicator, highly motivated, reliable and be able to work flexibly. Open only to applicants from Hampshire & Isle of Wight NHS system, which is limited to; Hampshire IOW Healthcare NHS Trust, Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust, South Central Ambulance Service or Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. To manage a defined caseload in a variety of community settings using evidence based/client centred principals to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.To develop clinical skills and knowledge through participation in the Trust Preceptorship programme and supervision.The assessments and interventions undertaken will be embedded within the framework of:MDT principles of workingThe holistic model of care Trust Learning Disability 4 tier modelTo manage a designated caseload of clients to include those with mental illness, complex physical health needs, challenging behaviour, autism, forensic, epilepsy and dementia.To work with adult service users who have a learning disability whose health need relates to the effect of their learning disability upon their occupational performance, enabling the client in areas of self maintenance, productivity and leisure.To assess, plan and implement client centred individual interventions, working directly with the person to develop their skills by : providing consultancy to enable others to work more effectively with the person, adapting the environment, that may be social, physical or cultural, to meet the persons specific learning disability need. Adapting the persons support systems and undertaking joint work with other team members.To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.To implement the principals and objectives of the Valuing People White Paper.
