Devon is a system with many examples of excellent care across primary, community, secondary, mental health, and the care sector, and a proud track record of some of the most established integrated working in the country. As we mature as an integrated care system (ICS) and ICB, we must transform ourselves to build on these successes and rise to the challenges that we face now and make ourselves ready for the ones that lie ahead. With an annual budget of £2.3 billion, NHS Devon is responsible for commissioning high-quality and innovative health and care services that meet the needs of the local population within the available resources. The role of the INEM will be to work alongside the Chair, other INEMs, executive directors and partner members and as equal members of the unitary board. We require INEMS that will bring independent and respectful challenge to the plans, aims and priorities of the ICB. Furthermore they will promote open and transparent decision-making that facilitates consensus aimed to deliver exceptional outcomes for the population. INEMs play a vital role in building and maintaining excellent relationships with a range of key partners. They will drive our strategic vision through partnerships and ensure a focus on putting the patient and service user first and making the best use of our collective resources. We serve a diverse population, with complex health and care needs, comprising both rural and urban areas, extremes of affluence and deprivation, as well as significant health inequalities. This vision is the golden thread through our Integrated Care Strategy and Joint Forward Plan, which set out how we will deliver joined-up, preventative health, care and support services to all.
