We have the opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to work for 1 year in a pilot in the Young Peoples Substance Misuse Treatment Service in Plymouth. This role is to offer mental health assessment, Intervention and consultation to the young people accessing this service who present with a comorbid mental health presentation, you will provide a pathway between CAMHS and the young peoples substance misuse treatment service to ensure smooth transitions for this group of young people. The post will be located within team with The Childrens Society who will provide clinical supervision and support any training needs.They however will sit within CAMHS and will receive caseload/line management from CAMHS. Please note this is a permanent post if this pilot is not funded past 2025 the applicant will be move to a vacancy in the wider CAMHS Service. About us This is an exciting new role being developed in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). A CAMHS Mental health Practitioner that will specialise in working with Children and Young People who present with substance misuse issues and co-morbid mental health presentation within the Young People Substance Misuse Treatment Service In Plymouth. They will be co-located within the Sharp Team. However, will be Line managed and caseload management within CAMHS and Clinical supervision in the Substance Misuse Service The post holder will provide. Assessment Psychological Interventions (this could include Motivational Interviewing to help young people focus on strengths and finding solutions. Training can be provided if needed). They will provide 10 to 15 sessions monitored by using outcome measures and will work closely with all the pathways and enable the facilitation of CYP moving seamless around our pathways. Consultations with other agencies and professionals Group work Health Promotion Our young people dont fit into boxes or models of therapeutic delivery we hope this new post we will attract the type of clinician that will adapt to the young persons presentation using all their skills. Enabling the CYP to come into The Young People Substance Misuse Treatment Service In Plymouth and back out again without need to access longer term CAMHS interventions. The successful applicant will also be supported to undertake additional therapeutic training depending on the skills they arrive in our service with. This role will also undertake line management and caseload management and supervision responsibilities for junior staff to support their development and the applicants development. To work with children and young people who may present mental health difficulties Co-ordination and implementation of evidence-based interventions in a timely manner, in collaboration with the other clinicians across the CAMHS Pathways. The postholder will need to have an awareness, knowledge and understanding of therapeutic principles to inform their practices and to support in providing interventions, outcomes so delivery best outcomes for CYP. Assessments and interventions will come external to this post and from internal routes. Providing 15 contacts with young people and families each week. To support the delivery of evidence-based group programmes for children and young people with mental health issues from a portfolio of available CAMHS training Take a lead in representing CAMHS in multi-agency meetings such as EHAT, SEND meetings or child protection meetings to co-ordinate and have oversight of mental health element of a multi-agency plan around a child. To function as a member of the CAMHS Service taking appropriate responsibility for the implementation of decisions made by the pathway. Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) Maintain standards of care to highest level within available resources.
