Applicants must possess a Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in Ultrasound and must be registered with the HCPC or other relevant professional body. Recent NHS experience is required and all applicants must meet the requirements of the role. The role is open to UK residents only. Sessions undertaking general medical, gynaecological, musculoskeletal and obstetric (week-days only) examinations are available depending on expertise and experience. There is an active training programme in place within the department that all staff are involved in. The Ultrasound Department has BMUS endorsement for its preceptorship programme, one of a few departments across the country. We have a good support network from our Radiology colleagues and provide CPD activities within the department. The Trust opened its Community Diagnostic Centre in 2024 which offers a 7 day, 8am-8pm service to the local population. As there is a requirement to provide ultrasound sessions in the CDC, evening and weekend sessions are available should you wish. Some of the main duties of the job are as follows; To undertake a clinical commitment working to the department protocols and scanning guidelines providing a patient focussed service To ensure that the highest standards are delivered within the resources available to the department To work closely with other professionals within the clinical team to maintain the highest standards of service provision To work closely and collaboratively with those Directorates to whom a service is provided About us This job description is not exhaustive and may be reviewed periodically in consultation with the post holder. Advanced Clinical Practice To perform and report ultrasound examinations according to departmental protocols and guidelines To act as a role model To take responsibility for your own actions whilst working alone but also to work as part of a wider team To supervise and participate in the practical training of student sonographers and/or other medical staff, as required To maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Quality and Audit To be familiar with and adhere to all the Trusts policies, procedures and protocols To ensure all standards of ultrasound are maintained in accordance with expected national standards; also to be aware of current ultrasound developments Be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing Continued Professional Development To be responsible for the safe use of ultrasound equipment and to report any equipment fault without delay To maintain elements of statutory training and adhere to Health and Safety and COSHH regulations Communication To maintain high standards of record keeping, both manually and electronically To communicate with patients with a sympathetic and understanding manner To liaise with wards and other departments within the hospital "}
