Additional sessions may be available on request. The post will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the new Consultant Contract (2003). The non resident out of hours on call commitment involves covering CEPOD theatres, labour ward and other emergencies in the hospital and is an essential part of the job plan. In addition to appraisal, the job plans of all consultants will be reviewed at least annually in conjunction with the Chief of Service and the Associate Director. Representative timetable/Job plan The proposed timetable and PA allocation are indicative of the work required but is not rigid and will be flexible depending on service needs and the base specialty of the applicant. A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and Chief of Service on behalf of the Medical Director within three months of appointment. The job plan will then be reviewed annually and covers all aspects of a consultants professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. In addition, it will include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives. So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues, this includes short periods of annual leave, sick leave, study and professional leave on a quid pro quo basis. Paid backfill is provided in exceptional circumstances. On occasions Consultants may be requested to perform additional duties in emergencies or unforeseen circumstances or convert SPA time to Direct Clinical Care. Management arrangements The Trust is organised into Clinical Directorates. The Directorate of Anaesthesia, Theatres and Critical Care spans all three sites and is led by: Chief of Service Dr Subodh Tote Associate Director of Operations Ms Julie West Trust ICU Lead- Dr Subodh Tote Deputy Chief of Service, Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital Dr Dinesh Selvan ICU Clinical Lead Wexham Park Hospital- Dr Peter Csabi Lead Obstetric Anaesthetist Wexham park Hospital- Dr Nimisha Patel College Tutor: Dr Carolyn Griffith All directorates are further supported by the Corporate & Support functions, including Human Resources, Finance, Information Management & Technology. The Medical Director of the Trust is Dr Timothy Ho and the Chief Executive Officer is Mr Lance McCarthy Teaching, audit and research The Anaesthetic departments offer an active teaching programme for junior anaesthetists. Difficult airway workshops are held annually as well as courses relating to Obstetrics, Human Factors and Regional anaesthesia. Consultants also provide tutorials for those junior staff preparing for examinations. Participation in Clinical Audit is a requirement and an on going activity in this department. Research activity is encouraged and supported by the Trust Research and Development Department. Attendance at the monthly educational day is part of the SPA and staff are expected to attend with the exception of those providing emergency care cover and those on leave. There is a focus on the use of simulation based training with SIM suites and SIM fellows. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Consultant Anaesthetists to join the team of Consultants in the Anaesthetic Department at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Anaesthetics is part of the Directorate of Anaesthesia, Theatres and Critical Care. Both ICU units have received the rating of Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. These are posts in general anaesthesia based at Wexham Park Hospital and the Heatherwood Hospital with the opportunity to subspecialise in acute pain, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Regional, and colorectal anaesthesia dependent on individual interest and training. The posts have arisen due to retirements and service expansion.
