As a Band 6 nurse on Saturn you will be taking charge of the unit, working closely with Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Play Specialists and the wider Paediatric Teams and supporting junior members of the team. Saturn ward is a Paediatric Day Surgery ward with an age range of 0-16 years old. We carry out both elective and emergency surgeries including specialities like Orthopaedics, Dental, Urology and Gastroenterology. We also have close links with our local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and various other support agencies and departments within the hospital to help young people reach their full potential and transition into adult life. We are very proud of the services we provide and the high standard of care we deliver. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and highly motivated to become a part of the team. The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality patient care, whilst working in close co-operation and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The Senior Staff Nurse will: Provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations. Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge. Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC regulations. Work autonomously and with others to always deliver high standards of care to patients and their carers, autonomously and as part of a team.
