The post will be based on Ward 3 at the Newsam Centre. The Newsam Centre has a wealth of resources, including a range of therapy rooms, to support the work of the Occupational Therapy Team. The post is advertised for 37.5 full time hours per week. We are looking for an individual who is: Enthusiastic about occupation and its role in mental health Able and willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service Passionate about working with this client group. Able to work within a team and offer leadership support to colleagues and the wider forensic service. Willing and able to provide supervision and support to the wider occupational therapy team and the MDT. The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and support discharge planning. LYPFT utilises the Model of Human Occupation framework to inform the overall assessment and formulate recovery plans for those within the service. Effective MDT clinical leadership drives the service and aspires to equip clinicians with a versatile and comprehensive skillset in order to provide compassionate and therapeutic care. The role of occupation is recognised and valued on the ward. The assessments and interventions provided by Occupational Therapists are an important part of this therapeutic offer, provided both individually and in groups. You will bring your knowledge, skills and experience to effectively plan and support effective transfers to the community. Successful candidates will be offered structured supervision, appraisal and opportunities for professional development within the workplace. About us To work closely with the Clinical Team Manager (CTM) in overseeing efficiency and effectiveness of treatment given and support the CTM in carrying out his/her duties. To present as a positive and professional role model to all staff within the unit, striving to maintain a philosophy of service user involvement in continuously improving the service. To work as an integrated member of the clinical team, participating in all aspects of day to day service provision. To work within a clear Occupational Therapy pathway facilitating screening assessment, needs analysis/prioritisation, treatment planning and facilitating interventions. To take the professional lead for the overall provision and development of high quality Occupational Therapy Service, asserting your competencies as an Occupational Therapist and embedding these within the your role. To actively participate in and provide clinical and management supervision. To positively participate in and assist other staff, in the implementation of personal development plans, and promote mandatory training. To utilise your core Occupational Therapy skills in providing a high quality of Occupational Therapy mental health treatment. To be responsible and accountable for the Occupational Therapy assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Care and Treatment for Service Users within a Care Programme Approach (CPA) system. To support other staff in the implementation of service user treatment plans. To maintain clear links with your professions structures and your professions lead within the Trust.
