We are part of the South London Perinatal Network. This is a busy level two unit with 22 cots. There are four intensive care cots, five high dependency, and Seventeen special care cots. Ongoing professional development and educational program offered. With the opportunity to gain a Qualified in Specialty (QIS) in neonatologyQualifications: Registered Nurses/RSCN and midwives with interest in gaining experience in neonatal and Family Integrated Care (FIC). Staff will be considered for an interview The band 5 staff nurse will be supported by the neonatal team to provide 24 hour care, days nights and weekends to preterm and critically ill babies covering a range of conditions including but not limited to; respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, jaundice, feeding issues and other factors of prematurity. The post holder will work across sites to support neonatal unit and transitional care and to promote breastfeeding and family integrated care. They will be involved with the discharge process to ensure a seamless, timely discharge from hospital to the home environment They will work closely with the consultant, dietician, physiotherapist, speech and language and other members of the MDT post discharge. There is opportunity to complete an in house High dependency course as well as a university accredited Intensive care course to provide the skills and knowledge to progress and work within those areas.
