This is an exciting opportunity to receive training in the management of cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, primary ciliary dyskinesia and complex lung infection. This post is suited to trainees with an interest in respiratory infection who are looking to gain sub-specialty experience. Southampton hosts the largest CF service in the South-West with a cohort of 321 patients. You will work alongside a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team with opportunities to learn from all members of the MDT. We also run one of the four national PCD management services as well as bronchiectasis clinics seeing patients with immunodeficiency, CTD-bronchiectasis, mycobacterial and fungal lung disease, all of which you will gain experience in. We have an extensive Phase 1-3 clinical trials program and would encourage you to become involved and develop research interests of your own. We are a friendly welcoming team and place an emphasis on teaching and developing our trainees. About us What youll do You will join the large multidisciplinary CF, PCD and bronchiectasis teams at UHS, caring for around 320 adults with CF, 140 PCD patients and 500 bronchiectasis patients. You will be expected to develop an understanding of and experience in the management of the whole range of CF, PCD and bronchiectasis co-morbidities including complex pulmonary infections, haemoptysis, pneumothorax, respiratory failure, lung transplantation, CF liver disease, CF bone disease, CF diabetes, pregnancy, sinus disease, intestinal complications and immunodeficiencies. The post encompasses both inpatient and outpatient work, attendance at MDT meetings, review of ad hoc attenders and review and actioning of test results. You will work closely with the junior clinical fellow to manage the team workload. What were looking for Experience of working in respiratory medicine and with an interest in respiratory infection. Experience of working as a doctor in the NHS and familiarity with the clinical systems commonly in use. Enthusiasm and motivation to contribute to the team. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists). Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process. Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay) Basic Salary MT04 £61,825 Basic Salary MT05 £70,425 Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills.
