The Wellington Hospital has over four decades of expertise; providing the highest level of care for patients who are looking for the best treatment in key areas of healthcare, including: neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, acute neurological rehabilitation, gynaecology and cancer care. The Acute Neuro-rehabilitation unit at the Wellington Hospital have some exciting opportunities following expansion and refurbishment. We are an established service which offers comprehensive interdisciplinary rehabilitation programs for both inpatients and out-patients. We are looking for Physiotherapists who have a special interest in Neuro-Rehabilitation, or would like to grow their skills in this area. The Rehabilitation Physiotherapy department consists of 18 members of staff. About the role This role is a rotational post in the areas of Spinal Cord Injuries, Stroke, PDOC and head injury and out-patients. We would encourage both an experienced therapist or for a band 5 therapist who feels ready to move onto a more senior role to apply. In your roleat the Wellington Hospital you willcarry out accurate physiotherapy assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with diverse clinical presentations and complex physical and psychological needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team on the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at The Wellington Hospital. About us MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POST: To carry out accurate physiotherapy assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with diverse clinical presentations (predominantly neurological), and complex physical and psychological needs in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. To work as an effective member of the physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team in the development of therapy services at The Wellington Hospital and within the HCA group. To provide advice, guidance and information to health care professionals, carers, relatives and other non professionals in the management of patients To implement clear, clinically reasoned and appropriate individualised treatment plans which are regularly reviewed and updated To be able to address the respiratory needs of those patients admitted to the rehabilitation. Staff will be trained against a competency framework for respiratory skills. Joining the on-call Rota is optional. To support the physiotherapy service working flexibly across the working week. To be actively involved in supervision, education, evidence based practice and audit projects for the development of the physiotherapy service, The Wellington Hospital, HCA and personal and professional clinical practice To assist in identifying opportunities to improve the Physiotherapy service in order to provide the best patient care within the resources available This post involves 6-monthly rotations within the rehabilitation Unit, Acute Neurology and Neurosurgical Unit and Neurological Outpatients.
