The successful applicant will work together with a fully supportive Nursing, HCA and phlebotomy team. They will be supported and work alongside a large clinical team of GP partners and other Health Care professionals. We use EMIS as our clinical system and have 18,000 patients and growing! We have regular clinical and non-clinical meetings to manage and continually improve our patient care. We are passionate about training the next generation of workforce and for many years have been a teaching practice. Acting within scope of practice undertake general practice nurse duties for example wound care, support and manage health needs of women presenting for family planning and cervical cytology consultations; implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes of children and adults; advise, support and administer vaccinations as required for travelling abroad. Work with other health professionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat long term conditions. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. To maintain contemporaneous and accurate medical records; utilising electronic patient information system agreed templates and coding protocols. To ensure the clinical environment is fit for purpose and ensuring compliance with infection control measures, clinical waste disposal, safety of equipment and stock control (including Drug and Vaccine storage). About us PRACTICE NURSE REPORTS TO: NURSE MANAGER/THE PARTNERS (Clinically) THE PRACTICE MANAGER (Administratively) HOURS: circa 20 per week Job Summary: The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice. Job Responsibilities: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs Cytology Wound care /ulcer care/Doppler Removal of Sutures New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis Travel Health ECGs Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry Venepuncture Hypertension Management Ear syringing Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinicians Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Interest Chronic disease management and Contraception. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate Other tasks will include: Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the Practice At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
