Accurate and methodical collation of data and entry to databases or national systems, to evidence and ensure that all women and their babies are offered Antenatal and newborn screening. This includes having a wide knowledge of the complexities of the screening pathways across primary and secondary care, to aide investigation where things go wrong. The failsafe officer needs to understand the complexities and screening pathways of the below screening programmes: Haemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia) Infectious Diseases (HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis) Trisomy Screening (Down's, Edward's and Patau's syndrome) Fetal Anomaly Newborn Bloodspot (NBBS) Newborn Physical Examination (NIPE).
