The ward includes a 17 bedded inpatient area and the addition of the Acute Oncology Assessment Bay. We welcome applications from both experienced Band 5 NMC Registered Nurses and also student nurses who will be qualifying within the next 3 months. You will be well supported within the team to gain knowledge, skills and competencies within this specialised area. A flexible nature is required and previous experience in Oncological care would also be desirable, but not essential. For this particular post, we are currently unable to progress applications from overseas registered nurses that have not yet passed NMC OSCE and registration. Routine care such as; patient admission, meeting holistic care needs, complex care needs, providing End of Life care, symptom control, patient discharge, complex Fast Track discharge planning and working within the Acute Oncology Service will be expected of you. Additionally, establishing good working relationships with our dedicated clinical nurse specialist teams/practitioners, doctors, consultants, patient and visitors is also a priority. You will report to the nurse in charge or Ward Manager, whilst routinely liaising with the Multidisciplinary Teams About us Using your clinical experience and skills, you will work with your team as a named nurse to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs of care within the framework of the nursing profession. Acting with compassion, you will put patients at the centre of all you do. You will communicate effectively with patients and their carers, regarding their care and educate patients where there is a need. You will communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care is maintained. You will show commitment to sustaining and developing your clinical competence and professional awareness. You will provide supervision, support and education to unqualified staff and students. This role will require you to work variable hours in order to fulfil the needs of the ward.
