What to expect

2. What qualifications or training do you possess that make you suitable for this role?
3. Have you ever been involved in transporting patients or individuals with special needs? If so, could you provide an example of a situation you encountered?
4. What do you understand about the purpose and operation of the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service?
5. How do you prioritise patient comfort and safety during transport?
6. How would you handle a situation where a patient is anxious or distressed about being transported?
7. Describe a time when you had to communicate effectively with a patient or family member. What was the outcome?
8. Can you explain what a dynamic risk assessment involves and how you would apply it in this context before transporting a patient?
9. Tell me about a time when you had to assess a situation quickly and make a decision. What was the situation and what did you decide?
10. Have you ever had to deal with an unexpected incident during a patient transport? How did you handle it?
11. How would you approach a situation where a vehicle you're responsible for has a mechanical issue while you are on duty?
12. This role requires collaboration with healthcare professionals. Can you discuss a time when you worked as part of a team to ensure a patient's needs were met?
13. How do you ensure clear communication with colleagues regarding transportation logistics and patient needs?
14. What procedures do you follow to ensure that your vehicle is maintained and kept in a safe condition?
15. Can you provide an example of how you have previously reported a fault or issue with a vehicle? What was the outcome?
16. What motivates you to work in patient transport services, particularly in a non-emergency setting?
17. How do you manage stress or emotional challenges that may arise from working with patients in vulnerable situations?
18. What do you know about the legal and ethical considerations for patient transport drivers?
19. How would you ensure compliance with the Trust's policies and procedures whilst on duty?
20. Are you willing to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the role?
