The role is 8 hours and so can be fulfilled alongside private practice or other counselling work. Reflections offers long term humanistic therapy to clients who have diabetes in Nottinghamshire. The service exists in recognition of the interconnections between diabetes management and mental health. This is an exciting opportunity to support the wellbeing of diabetes patients, often in transformative ways. The Lead counsellor will support a small team of counsellors on placement, plus one employed counsellor. They will be responsible for recruitment, liaising with training providers and safeguarding within Reflections. We are looking for an experienced counsellor, with an ability to work respectfully across humanistic modalities. Ideally you will have supervision and line management experience. The successful candidate will need to have experience of working with clients living with long term conditions. You will also need experience of prioritising tasks and managing own caseloads in a demanding environment. Considerable experience of working with clients who live with the complex effects of multiple traumas will also be a necessity. Providing supportive line management for counsellors on placement. Managing recruitment of new counsellors, including ensuring sufficient applications, interviewing, overseeing HR processes and offering inductions. Maintaining clinical oversight of the service as a whole. Liaising with training organisations. Undertaking initial assessments. Managing the counselling waiting list. Allocating clients to counsellors. Maintaining and reviewing systems of record keeping and the management of client confidentiality. Responding to urgent clinical and safeguarding concerns. Maintaining best practice within the service using NUH values and behaviours guidance, BACP and UKCP ethical guidance and best practice documents, and requirements of training organisations. Liaising with the diabetes department and contributing to initiatives. To provide regular supportive and valuing line management of volunteer counsellors and counsellors on placement. To oversee clinical work within the service and raise any concerns promptly with counsellors in the first instance and if not resolved, with training providers and supervisors. To be available for clinical consultation on counsellors caseloads as needed. To liaise with training providers regularly: promptly raising concerns regarding processes or particular trainees; responding to update emails and requests for paperwork or feedback. Attending meetings with training providers at least yearly for discussion and promotion of collaborative working. To liaise with the wider diabetes team and contribute to initiatives where requested. This may be contributions to psychoeducation materials or staff training. To provide training for the counselling team where appropriate. "}
