This post involves contact with patients and families face to face. Therefore it cannot be ruled out that the post-holder may come in to contact with people who have COVID-19, although the Trust provides PPE and takes all reasonable steps to minimise risk. Candidates will be expected to produce original certificates for qualifications at interview stage as per essential criteria on the person specification. Please note this vacancy may close earlier than the specified closing date if a high level of applications are received. The successful applicant will be expected to work within all areas of the operating theatre, these areas include escorting patients to and from theatre, assisting the theatre team during the operative period, cleaning and preparing theatre for the smooth progression of the operative list and finally working in the receipt and dispatch area accepting, processing and using stock rotation techniques to maintain stock levels. About us Duties and Responsibilities Arrange for the transport and disposal of clinical, domestic, sensitive and confidential waste in accordance to Trust Policy. Assist with the preparation, identification, recording and dispatch of specimens from the theatre unit. Assist with the collection of blood and blood products. To participate in the management of supplies ensuring the theatre unit has sufficient levels of all essential supplies to meet the service demands. Receive and dispatch sterile supplies ensuring HSDU/CSSD schedules are completed. Ensure that the pharmacy stock items including controlled drugs are received and stored in accordance with COSHH and Trust guidance; any in balance in stock is reported and addressed. Maintain the cleaning/decontamination and checking of all patient trolleys including the additional oxygen and suction apparatus. Manage and maintain the stock of medical gas cylinders. Ensure that essential equipment is decontaminated and sterilised in line with Trust policy reporting any defects to the person in charge of the department at the time. "}
