The post is for 6 months in the first instance with the opportunity to extend. The successful applicant will work in the capacity of a registrar to one of the consultants within the General Surgery Unit and will be responsible for both inpatient elective and emergency work as well as supporting the trauma team whilst on call. The General Surgery Unit is served by four consultants with sub-specialist interest in UGI, vascular surgery, Paediatric surgery and endocrine. The successful applicant will work in the capacity of a registrar to one of the consultants within the General Surgery Unit and will be responsible for both inpatient elective and emergency work as well as supporting the trauma team whilst on call. The General Surgery Unit is served by four consultants with sub-specialist interest in UGI, vascular surgery, Paediatric surgery and endocrine. The post is not approved for basic or higher surgical training but will provide ample training opportunities and will suit a senior trainee committed to a Surgical career or seeking additional experience of General surgery at registrar level. Previous NHS experience is essential for this role. There is also scope for training and working closely with the Colorectal Surgery team including clinic and theatre and on-calls.
