The role is central to the extension of the community services. The post holder will rotate between the community and the Trust Echocardiography Departments at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and other cardiology departments across the Trust. The post holder will need to maintain their specialist knowledge of interventions such as stress echo (Dobutamine and Bike exercise echo) and transoesphageal echocardiograms, which are only performed in the Trust. As an advanced practitioner in Echocardiography the post holder will need to be able to independently perform a range of highly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations, including adult and child transthoracic,3D/strain,contrast and bubble study echocardiogram,performing physiologist-led valve echo and assessment, Stress echocardiogram and assisting with transoesphageal echocardiogram. Performing accurate and reproducible measurements and quantification, interpret findings and independently issue (sign-off) final clinical-technically diagnostic reports, to a highly competent professional standard. The post holder will assist the Principal Echocardiographer to provide and organise the day-to-day clinical-technical services of the departments in the community and St.Mary's Hospital where appropriate This role also requires the physiologist to be able to supervise other non-invasive procedures (24hr tapes and blood pressures, assisting and sometimes performing Physiologists led exercise tests and also walk-in ECG's).
