You will ideally have a qualification in chronic disease management, childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, wound care and cytology. Your role will be to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training. The focus of the role is both the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with long term conditions and the provision of preventative health care to the practice population. As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making in the management of patients. You will work collaboratively within the general practice team and the wider community teams to meet the needs of patients, support the delivery of policy and procedures and provide leadership where required.
