Sexual Health Clinic, based at Guildford. Surrey Integrated Sexual Health & HIV Services are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic registered nurses who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary innovative sexual and reproductive health service. The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings. The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of outpatient care to patients living with Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV). The post holder will develop their skills in HIV and sexual health care over during the development post. This will include delivering nurse-led clinics for Sexual Health and HIV investigations, vaccines and results management. To take charge of the clinic shift when required according to rota, as well as supporting health care support workers and medical staff. The post holder will facilitate the learning experience and environment for nurses (both pre and post registration) and other health professionals undergoing training and education in the department. This will include supervising and mentoring students undertaking HIV/ sexual health courses. The post is full time (37.5hrs) but consideration will be given to suitable candidates who wish to work less part time with a minimum of WTE 0.5 (18.75hrs). About us To maintain a high standard of nursing care and service provision, testing, treatment and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and managing care for people living with HIV and other blood borne infections (BBVs) attending the clinic. To obtain clear and thorough relevant histories from patients including medications, smoking, alcohol and sexual history. To examine patients and obtain appropriate clinical specimens according to clinic protocols. To manage a range of symptomatic and asymptomatic sexual health presentations according to local policy To initiate Cryotherapy according to Cryotherapy protocol To recognise signs and symptoms of complex and unstable health problems requiring medical review and refer on to appropriate health professionals To treat patients within the confines of patient group directions (PGDs) and arrange prescriptions of treatments not covered by PGD and safely administer and supply these. To perform microscopy according to protocol (relevance dependent on site of work) To carry out partner notification To promote sexual health and wellbeing through advice and information To discuss HIV transmission, including U=U To offer advice on HIV medication and side effects. To discuss and provide appropriate vaccination including sign posting to primary care. To discuss HIV results and refer for senior advice when required. To take part in initiatives to engage users in the development of the services depending on site of work To liaise with team to engage patients in care and ensuring the DNA lost to follow-up pathways are adhered to.
