We are looking to recruit an innovative and highly specialised Band 7 Occupational Therapist, with previous experience working in the areas of trauma, orthopaedic, vascular surgery, plastic and general surgery. You would work within a team, comprising of qualified and assistant therapy staff, providing intervention to patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, whose needs are often challenging and complex. The post holder will work with major trauma, orthopaedic and amputee patients who have sustained complex injuries and support them on their rehabilitation journeys. You will provide holistic occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex injuries due to major trauma. You will work closely with the MDT to optimise patient's recovery to facilitate discharge home, or refer on to other community rehabilitation services. The successful applicant will have the opportunities to develop their leadership, management and QI skills, whilst being responsible for overseeing the day-to-day workload, supervision and appraisal of junior staff. We are looking for a motivated occupational therapist, with excellent communication and people management skills to join and complement our established teams and continue to develop the in-patient service To provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service within the specialties of Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O), vascular surgery and General Surgery. Patients seen have a wide range of trauma, vascular and surgical conditions and their needs are frequently complex. The service aim is for clinical risk management pre and post-operatively, post-injury or post-diagnosis, to maximise functional ability and ensure safe discharge of patients. This team covers Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery, Plastics, GI Surgery, Major Trauma Unit step down patients and the Surgical Rehabilitation Unit. Conditions seen include various types of trauma, vascular, amputees, cancer and palliative surgical patients and other surgeries. The post holder will have their own caseload and actively participate in the ongoing development, evaluation and audit of this service. To provide team leadership, direction and support for junior staff and students. To assist in the management, development of occupational therapy services, including service reviews and audit. To hold responsibility for defined projects. To comply with the College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
