A fundamental part of the ANP role will be to undertake routine advanced physical assessment of the day care SACT patients including assessing these patients prior to each treatment using thorough history taking, clinical examination, arranging relevant investigations (e.g. blood tests, radiographs), prescribing SACT and other supportive medications. The ANP will also have skills in the early detection and intervention of clinical deterioration in existing or new medical conditions. The post is intended to provide improved outcomes for patients by improving services and quality. You will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and make critical judgements to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role working within the guidelines of agreed clinical protocols. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and you will be required to have extensive post registration experience in oncology / haematology care. The post holder will ideally have completed an MSc in advanced clinical practice however applications will be considered from suitable candidates who have commenced the level 7 pathway and be willing to continue level 7 studies towards a qualification in advance practice. Applicants must hold a minimum of degree and ideally a clinical examination course. Non-medical prescribing is key part of the role and participants without this qualification must be willing to undertake.
