Do you have experience of leading and managing a team? At BPAS, we are looking for a Lead Nurse or Midwife to come and join our passionate team to provide abortion and sexual health information, pre-treatment assessment and treatment to clients in a supportive manner within our unit in Swindon for 37.5 hours a week over Monday to Friday. As the Lead Nurse or Midwife you will lead, manage and mentor a clinical team of nurses and midwives involved in the provision of the termination service. You will also deputise in the absence of the Treatment Unit Manager, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety for our clients. About You You will be a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife (practising) who has experience of working within a clinical environment, where you have supervised or managed other clinical staff. You will have experience of working to guidelines, policies and procedures, and also have experience of completing client documentation. To deliver high standards of care in accordance with NMC Guidelines for Professional Practice and to promote the safety and well-being of clients at all times. Assess the gestation of the pregnancy by ultrasound scanning, and establish that the client is sure of her decision to request a termination and ensure that the reason complies with the terms of the Abortion Act. Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on Client Care Notes as appropriate - including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures, cervical preparation and surgical treatment. Assist in the orientation of new staff, including bank and agency staff, and provide an environment conducive to learning in which staff are able to develop. To complete Datix and ensure complaints / serious incidents are dealt with in a timely manner according to policy and procedure To complete clinical audits and act on the results escalating them to the relevant person/team as necessary Assist the Unit Manager in setting budgets for the Unit and in ensuring that CQC standards are maintained.
