Opportunities have arisen for a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is keen to attract individuals looking to develop a portfolio career of their choosing, with flexible job plans to accommodate varied skill sets and working patterns. The job has no mandatory commitments to the General Medicine service. Our new 7-room endoscopy unit opened on the York site in September 2019 and offers exciting opportunities for the development of advanced and subspecialist endoscopic modalities, such as EUS. It will be one of the UK's biggest and most advanced units of its kind with a dedicated ERCP room and with the infrastructure to develop a suite of training courses. There are also highly supported opportunities for clinical research and to undertake teaching of undergraduate students as part of the Hull and York Medical School. The Gastroenterology Department provides all aspects of gastroenterology and specialist hepatology and enjoys excellent surgical and the full range of MDT support. Current sub-specialisms include IBD, capsule endoscopy, advanced endoscopy, nutrition and viral hepatology. In addition to endoscopy facilities, there are excellent radiology facilities on site. Job Plans are open to discussion and negotiation. Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of the interview. Your clinical skills and expertise will be of a high standard covering Gastroenterology. There is a voluntary limited option to cover General Internal Medicine/Acute Medicine. A familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous. This service is well supported by a sister Hepatology department, who manage routine and emergency Hepatology conditions , although weekend service is provided through a common/combined rota. "}
